Functionally they work the same way, but an eSIM is embedded in your device and activated digitally. There's no plastic card to insert, swap or lose, and you can store multiple eSIM profiles at once.
Yes. You need Wi-Fi or an existing data connection to download and install your eSIM profile. We recommend installing it before you travel, while you still have stable internet.
Yes. Your eSIM data plan works alongside your primary SIM, so you can keep receiving calls and texts on your usual number while using the eSIM for data.
Yes. eSIM profiles are encrypted and tied to your device. Because there's no physical card to remove, an eSIM can actually be harder to tamper with than a traditional SIM.
Most recent smartphones, tablets and smartwatches support eSIM β including iPhone XS and newer, recent Google Pixel, and many Samsung Galaxy models. Check your device's settings or specifications to confirm.
On iPhone, go to Settings > General > About and look for an EID number. On Android, go to Settings > About phone or Settings > Network & internet and look for an option to add an eSIM/digital SIM.
An eSIM only works on an unlocked device. If you bought your phone from a carrier on contract, it may be locked β contact your carrier to confirm it's unlocked before purchasing.
Yes, if the device supports cellular eSIM. Note that some wearables share the plan with a paired phone, so check whether your device supports a standalone data plan.
Choose the destination and data plan that fits your trip, complete checkout, and you'll receive your eSIM and a QR code by email and in your account β usually within minutes.
Scan the QR code we send you, or enter the activation details manually in your device's eSIM settings. Once installed, enable the line and turn on data roaming for that eSIM.
For most plans, validity begins when the eSIM connects to a supported network at your destination β not at the moment of purchase. The exact activation rule is shown on each plan.

If an eSIM hasn't been installed or activated and isn't working as described, contact support and we'll help with troubleshooting or a refund according to our refund policy.
We offer local, regional and global eSIM plans covering 190+ destinations. Each plan lists its supported countries and networks before you buy.
Speeds depend on local network availability, typically 4G/LTE or 5G where supported. In congested areas or after a fair-use threshold, speeds may be reduced.
Most plans support tethering / personal hotspot, so you can share your connection with a laptop or other devices. Any restrictions are noted on the plan details.
Your connection pauses once the data allowance is used. You can simply purchase a new plan or top up β no need to remove the existing eSIM.
No. You can keep the profile stored on your device and reuse it, or delete it from your eSIM settings at any time. Stored profiles don't consume data when inactive.
They're sent to your email after purchase and are always available in your account under Orders, so you can re-install or reference them anytime.
Make sure the line is enabled, data roaming is on for the eSIM, and you've selected a supported network manually if needed. Restarting the device resolves most issues; if not, contact support.
Just purchase another plan for the same destination from your account. There's no need to delete your current eSIM β you can switch between profiles in your settings.
